A Changing of the Guard: Fittler Unveils Debutants for 2023 NSW Origin

Three Fresh Faces to Represent the Blues

Sydney - NSW Origin coach Brad Fittler has made bold selections for the opening game of the 2023 State of Origin series, naming three debutants in his squad.

New Blood Injects Excitement

Fittler has selected Api Koroisau, Tom Trbojevic, and Tevita Pangai Jr to make their Origin debuts. The inclusions of Koroisau and Trbojevic are particularly surprising, with both players having missed significant time with injuries in recent seasons.

Pangai Jr, on the other hand, is a proven performer at NRL level, having played over 100 games for the Broncos and Panthers. His inclusion adds size and experience to the Blues' forward pack.

The selection of these three debutants signals a changing of the guard for NSW, with several experienced players left out of the squad. Notably absent are Damien Cook, Josh Addo-Carr, and Jake Trbojevic.

Maroons Favoritism Undeterred

Despite the injection of fresh blood, the Maroons remain the favorites heading into the series. Queensland has won the past three Origin series and will be looking to extend their dominance.

The Blues, however, will be hoping that their new faces can provide the spark they need to turn the tide in their favor. With the series opener set to be played in Sydney on May 31, the battle lines are drawn for what promises to be an unforgettable spectacle of rugby league.
